Exodus 4:2 “The Lord said to him, ‘What is that you have in your hand?’ And Moses said, ‘A rod.’” In the book of Exodus God appears to Moses to tell him that God wants him to lead the Isrealites out of slavery in Egypt to the promised land. Moses had been wandering around the desert for 40 years berating himself for mistakes he had made forty years ago and certainly didn’t feel capable of leading anyone, let alone a bunch of slaves our of captivity to freedom.
