Peace in the Midst of the Storm

2020 so far has turned out to be a very tumultuous year.   Whether you live on the west coast, the east coast, or somewhere in between I know your life has been full of challenges and changes.  My email signature contains a Bible verse that has given me great peace throughout the last few months.  Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”   God offers us a peaceful haven when the storms of life come.  We can know without a doubt that God “who changes not” is guiding us to fulfill the purpose He has planned for our life.

And the really exciting thing about this is that we can do it without having to worry!  I don’t know about you but early in life I was quite a worrier.  However, as I have lived through the decades of my life I have seen God fix every problem in His time and in His way for my life.  He takes care of everything!  Philippians 4:6 & 7 gives us the perfect formula for how to live every day worry free.  “Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again:  Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all.  The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."   Be at peace because God is in control.  Talk to Him everyday about your needs, wants, and hopes.  Read His word in the Bible.  Trust that at the best time He will take care of all your problems and live at peace.  One last note, don’t forget that phrase “let your gentleness be evident to all”.  You don’t have to be aggressive or violent.  God will fight your battles for you.  He already fought the biggest battle for you and won when He defeated Satan at the cross.  Let your gentleness be evident to all and live at peace.

May God richly bless each of your today with His peace and favor.
