Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of this world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things--and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness, and redemption. Therefore, as it is written, "Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord".
A quick look at the discples that Jesus chose shows us that God does not always choose those that seem to have the right qualifications for the job He is calling them to do. It doesn't matter what gifts, talents, expIeriences you feel that you lack--God will provide all the teaching and training that you will need to do what He has called you to do. I can testify from my experience that this true. It is sad to say that many people hear the calling of God in their hearts to do something special such as start a business, become debt free so they can share more of the resources God has given them with those in need, apply for a new job, or volunteer to do a much needed work, but they are too impatient to go through the preparation that is necessary to equip them to fulfill the vision God has put in their hearts.
I look back to 1998 to 2003; God had given me a dream of wanting to own my own business, but I was not yet equipped to start or run this business. I had finished my Ph.D. in 1997 but I didn't want to work for someone else; I had a dream to run my own business. I actually started a direct marketing business but it never became very prosperous. However, the company that I started that business with, provided a lot of small business and marketing training. I went to every local training and some a long way away. I practiced and was faithful in learning everything they taught me. That business stayed small but one day in 2003 God opened the door and planted the idea for National Institute for Healthcare Education in me. Miraculously doors opened and we were in business and growing exponentially. What was interesting was all of that training I got to run the Direct Marketing business helped grow National Institute for Healthcare Education. In 2013 we were awarded by American Heart Association the award for being in the top1% of all AHA Training Centers. That was the last time that award was given out and God grew us at the right rate so that we got it the last time it was ever given out! Through the depression we grew! Through every circumstance you can imagine God brought us the tools and training we needed at just the right time and we just kep on growing. This year American Heart Association made us a National Training Center and we didn't even ask for it! That is God!
If you are feeling under qualified for something you believe God is calling you to do, don't let that stop you. He will be your trainer and mentor. He will send you the people, experiences, and guidance you need to get where He wants you to go and do what He wants you to do. Learn what He is teaching you in this season of your life, and be ready to step out when the opportunity arises.
